“As My Ancestors Planted For Me, So Do I Plant For My Children.”
The Talmud
The IHC Foundation was formed in 1976 to operate exclusively for the benefit of IHC. The stated purpose is “To guard the heritage of Reform Judaism and to contribute to the education of its members and their families, the spiritual and cultural enrichment of their lives, their appreciation of their roles as good citizens and good Jews, and their responsibility and opportunity to help others, less favorably positioned, all within the scope of the moral doctrines of Judaism.” The role of the Foundation has been and will continue to be a means of receiving and administering gifts, bequests and endowments in a desire to strengthen and support IHC.
Since 1976 more than $4,000,000 has been donated to the Foundation from generous contributors. The By-laws of the Foundation state that the principal or capital may not be invaded unless authorized by a specific donor or unless its Board of Directors determines an emergency exists. Within these limits, income from the Foundation is given to IHC annually for programming and for special requests.
